Burnside Heights is a developing suburb in the Shire of Melton, north of Caroline Springs and approximately forty minutes north-west of Melbourne. Its quiet location on the threshold of Melbourne's outer fringe allows residents a peaceful lifestyle. A high proportion hail from Vietnam and the Philippines. Commuters can easily access the Western Ring Road for their daily travel, though Keilor Plains Station is four minutes away, and Watergardens Station is ten minutes away in nearby Sydenham. In addition to its regular city services, V/Line trains are available here to outlying regional areas such as Bendigo and Swan Hill.

There is one school in the area, Kororoit Creek Primary School. Numerous other schools are located in nearby Caroline Springs and Deer Park.

Watervale Shopping Centre was recently constructed in Taylors Hill to cater to Shire of Melton residents. It boasts a Woolworths supermarket, a medical centre, a childcare centre, and 18 food and retail stores. The Watergardens Town Centre also offers 210 retail stores, including large department chains like Big W, Target and Coles.
